First Class Comforts, Underground Challenges, and London Thrills

Although we were sad to leave Edinburgh, our first class train journey from Edinburgh to London was the perfect way to wind down after a busy few days in Scotland. Settling into our spacious seats aboard the LNER train, we enjoyed the comfort, the views, and a steady supply of tea and snacks. It was all very civilised until the bittersweet moment when we had to say goodbye to Micky. With a quick hug and wave, she disembarked at Durham, heading back to university. It was a short farewell, but one filled with gratitude and love

As the train sped on toward London, we had time to reflect and gear up for the next leg of our adventure. Arriving at King’s Cross, the challenge began: navigating the London Underground with suitcases in tow. Let’s just say, it was a workout. But with a bit of teamwork (and maybe a few muttered directions), we made it to the Tower Hotel. The location was unbeatable, right by Tower Bridge and the Thames.

Wasting no time, we dropped our bags and headed straight out on foot for a brisk walk to the London Bridge Experience and Tombs. Equal parts eerie and entertaining, it delivered exactly the adrenaline rush we needed after a day of travel. Creeping through dark tunnels and jumping at sudden scares had us both laughing and clinging to each other.

After that, we grabbed a quick bite to refuel—nothing too fancy, just something satisfying—before the evening’s highlight (for me): drinks at the Sky Garden. Now, James is not a fan of heights. But in true brave heart fashion, he came along anyway. We were given a seat slightly back from the window. The views were spectacular. The illuminated skyline, the greenery inside the garden, the atmosphere It was all worth it. Check out the videos below.

It was a day of contrasts: comfort and chaos, fright and delight, heights and heart. And that’s what made it unforgettable
