Farewell London

Our final day in London was a beautiful mix of British tradition, urban exploration, and the excitement of a new journey about to begin. As we prepare to head off to Paris tomorrow, the first leg of our 24 day Europe adventure with HolidayMax and 50 new friends, we couldn’t have asked for a better send off, especially with the gorgeous spring weather that followed us all day.

We began the day immersed in pageantry, watching the Gurkha Guard parade from Buckingham Palace down to St James’s Palace. The precision, pride, and ceremony of it all were genuinely moving. Soon after, we made our way to Whitehall to witness the Changing of the King’s Life Guard another striking reminder of London’s rich and living history.

Later in the day, we officially joined our HolidayMax tour group and set out together on an East End walking tour. It was the perfect blend of old and new; Victorian architecture rubbing shoulders with glass towers, tales of Jack the Ripper shared alongside vibrant street art that brings the neighbourhoods to life today. It was gritty, fascinating, and surprisingly beautiful.

We capped off the tour with a pub meal at The Leman Arms, our first shared dinner with our fellow travellers. The food was pub food, the conversations flowed easily, and it already feels like the start of some great new friendships.

Back at our hotel, The Tower Hotel, we tackled some final packing for our early 6:30 AM departure and then took one last moment to soak up the view. With steaming cups of hot chocolate in hand at The Vue Bar, we sat with front row seats to Tower Bridge, glowing majestically in the night. A peaceful and fitting end to our time in London.

Next stop Paris!
