Our Last Day On Tour

Today marked the end of our tour. A travel heavy day with fewer photos but still plenty of moments worth remembering.

We departed Amsterdam early this morning, leaving behind its peaceful canals and cycling lanes for the open road. Our first stop was the enchanting town of Bruges, Belgium. Even with just a short visit, it left a big impression. With its cobblestone streets, gingerbread style buildings, and dreamy canals, Bruges felt like stepping into a fairytale. Sadly, we only had time for a quick look around, but it was just enough to convince us: we have to come back and do it properly.

From there, it was a dash to Calais to catch the ferry to England ... or so we thought. What was meant to be a smooth crossing on the 3:00 PM ferry quickly turned into a long wait, thanks to an incredibly slow border control process. In the end, we didn’t board the ferry until 7:00 PM. Despite the many school groups onboard We managed to find a quiet place to hide ourselves away and I didn't have to intervene with the children too much.

Despite the delay, the crossing gave us a final memorable view of the White Cliffs of Dover, glowing in the evening light as we sailed toward the English coast. There’s something special about that moment, watching those iconic cliffs come into view after a long day on the move.

Just when we thought we were on the final stretch, there was one more surprise: a bus swap. Our driver had hit his legal limit for hours on the road, so we transferred to a new coach and what a spectacular upgrade it was! Legroom, seats that actually reclined without crowding the person behind, USB ports, proper air circulation, and the kind of comfort we were expecting in the first place.

Now, we’re back on the road one last time, heading toward our London hotel for a much-needed rest. Our alarm is already set for an early 7:15 AM pickup, and tomorrow we begin the next chapter. Whoo hoo! Making our way to Palma de Mallorca for a few days of relaxation in the Spanish sunshine.

Though today was light on photos, it was heavy with reflection. The tour is officially over, and what a journey it’s been. So many cities, sights, friends and memories made and still more to come.
