Ooh La La!

Our day in Paris began with the buzz of the city and the bustle of the metro; an adventure in itself as we joined a group tour to explore the city’s highlights. First stop: a perfumery museum, where centuries of fragrance history came alive in gilded rooms filled with glass and aluminium bottles and heady scents. James couldn’t resist and picked up something special; a perfect souvenir from the city of elegance.

From there, we made our way to the Arc de Triomphe, standing grand and proud at the top of the Champs-Élysées. It was awe inspiring to be so close to such a historic symbol. Then came the moment that never fails to amaze: our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. No matter how many times you’ve seen it in photos, standing beneath it is something else entirely.

Just nearby, we enjoyed a traditional Parisian lunch on a barge gently bobbing on the Seine. With wine in hand and the Eiffel Tower towering above us, the moment felt like something out of a movie. The food was lovely, but the atmosphere was what truly made it unforgettable.

After lunch, we boarded a Seine River cruise, gliding past iconic Parisian landmarks with the wind in our hair and the city’s charm wrapping around us. We saw the back of Notre-Dame Cathedral, still under construction but as commanding as ever. The front façade, later in the day, reminded us why Paris is often called an open-air museum, with every building a masterpiece.

We decided to part ways with the group to wander on our own. Up close, the Eiffel Tower was even more impressive, its iron lacework glowing in the afternoon light. From there, we strolled through the courtyard of the Louvre, taking in its grandeur without needing to step inside. Sometimes, just being near these cultural giants is enough.

The final stretch of our day took us to Montmartre, the bohemian heart of Paris. We climbed the steps to the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica, where the sweeping view over Paris stopped us in our tracks. As the sun dipped low, the city sparkled. While wandering the cobbled streets, we met a local artist and picked up a small painting of the Eiffel Tower, a perfect little memento of the magic we’d felt all day.

Dinner was at La Bohème, a cozy spot with an old world charm. We dove into a classic French meal: escargot, rich duck confit, and a crème caramel so divine it might just haunt our dreams. The meal, and the day, was the perfect blend of tradition, beauty, and indulgence.

Paris, you stole our hearts today. What a beautiful, unforgettable part of the world.
